Poems by Octavia

The first poem to inspire me to launch an online presence was ‘Enough’. I wrote this about my experience with postnatal depression, anxiety and PTSD following the birth of our twins. I then created Poems by Octavia to share my work with the world, determined to make some small difference for anyone else suffering. Our mental health, and that of our children is truly of the utmost importance.

The wonderful charity Home Start supported me during this time and I am delighted to have been affiliated with them.

I have written other serious poems such as For my Bruv, Free and Still about the loss of my brother to suicide, a process I find very cathartic. But I also enjoy writing about happy subjects such as Love, You and Two, and (hopefully!) funny ones such as Weirdo and Poo!

My passion for writing poetry spurred me on to become an author. Combining my love of rhyme with the desire to help children understand the world around them.

I have since changed to Books by Octavia to better describe my focus now, but will still be sharing poems from time to time!
